A wise friend of mine once told me, "you can't find love in dark places." I think what it meant was that love needs clear minds and open spaces even if the circumstances are difficult. The sense of camaraderie and familiarity you feel when your senses are numbed with that third drink, amongst gyrating languorous bodies on a dark dance floor is transient. See if it survives the sunshine and a cup of hot coffee and a long conversation.

I've just said the word 'relationship' ten times over in my head and it has lost all meaning.

perspective

Life has its way of giving you perspective.

Something happens, you give it so much thought and invest so much energy in it.
You analyze, overanalyze, torture yourself. It consumes you. At some level you know you shouldn't be thinking so much.

Then, something life altering happens... a birth, a death, something that's really of value. The other all-consuming thought then fades away into nothingness. Like it never ever was. And you chide yourself for all the wasted hours you spent on it.

We must always look at the bigger picture. It helps to keep us sane.
